The Valbonnais area features four climbing sites, catering to everyone from beginners to expert climbers.
The Pont du Prêtre site: Rated 5b+ to 6b+
A large, beautiful, very smooth slab ideal for learning proper foot placement.
Le site des Pinets (Le Périer): Grades 3a to 6b
A small climbing site set in a stunning natural landscape, offering routes of moderate difficulty.
The Dalle de Chantelouve site: Grades 4b to 5b
A lovely spot for learning single-pitch and easy multi-pitch climbing, pleasantly situated in the mountains. A historic site in the Matheysine region, it has been fully re-equipped to modern standards. It is ideal for learning multi-pitch climbing, though single-pitch climbing is also possible.
Note: Avoid visiting too early in the spring due to the risk of avalanches (there is a massive cliff face over 1,000 meters high above the site, and snow can linger at the very top).
La Chalp site (Chantelouve): Grade 7 to 8
A sport climbing crag for (very) good climbers.
