The Pierre Percée by La Motte d'Aveillans

Departing from La Motte d'Aveillans, hike towards one of the seven wonders of Dauphiné. From this natural arch which is located on the hill of Creys, discover a superb panorama over the whole of Matheysine.

This short, easy hike on the Matheysin plateau takes you to the Pierre Percée, a natural arch located at the top of the Creys hill. This triumphal arch would in fact be a squatting demon, petrified there by the devil for having lost a bet with the Duke of Lesdiguières. From this belvedere, you can enjoy a magnificent view over the whole Matheysine!

Departure from the "Les Georges" car park in La Motte d'Aveillans:
Follow direction La Pierre Percée through Roche Corbeyre and Serre de Lozier.
Return by Serre de la Vache, Les Taverdons, La Grandraye and Les Georges.

Variant from Pierre Châtel:
Park in the Fontalon car park in Pierre-Châtel.
Go straight up in the direction of Chante Merle until you reach the old charbonnière de Picardon. Turn left for a few switchbacks to Plan de la Rivoire. Continue straight on to reach the spectacular Pierre Percée.
The return is done by the same route.
