Beautiful atmosphere of mountains, tracks from one to four lengths on the right sector, and long tracks of 6 or more lengths on the left sector.
The tracks are recent and well equipped, an ideal site for an introduction to the "long tracks". Grades 4 to 6a/b: suitable for families.
Be careful, do not go too early in the spring because of an avalanche risk (large wall more than 1000 m above, possibility of remaining snow at the very top)

Rock & Climbing La Dalle de Chantelouve La Chalp is clearly divided into three areas: as soon as you arrive, on the right side of the cliff you will find the Maman sector, equipped with the most affordable lines (5 to 6a/b). The Papa sector, in the center, marks the transition with what awaits us further to the left, in grades that gradually take off from 7th to 8th. These two sections offer a fairly secure foot of lanes, with even a small slide permanently installed for the children. On the far left, you enter the high level, with almost all the tracks in the 8, and there, no more question of having kids play because you have to go through fixed ropes and get well trained at relays...

Jammers are unnecessary because the equipment is concrete on studs, but you need to provide a rope of 2 x 60 m, a good set of quickdraws (10/13), and enough to connect the relays.

Access & Approach La Dalle de Chantelouve To reach the Valbonnais ("the valley where flows La Bonne"), you can either go through the col d'Ornon (1367 m) from the Romanche valley (Le Bourg d'Oisans), or by the plateau Matheysin and La Mure. From Grenoble, the travel time is about the same, about an hour to get to Entraigues, the central village of the valley. The option through La Mure is however preferred, because access via Le Bourg d'Oisans is often heavily congested, especially in spring and summer, by hordes of cyclists (mostly Dutch) who get married to test their VO2 on the very narrow road of the Col d'Ornon. So there is little room for cars, and overtaking can quickly turn out to be hazardous. The sites between them, from the 11 o'clock Rocher to the Dalles de Chantelouve or Valjouffrey, are about fifteen kilometers apart. You should therefore take the right option, depending on whether they are located more on the side of La Mure (Rocher at 11 o'clock and Pont du Prêtre) or the col d'Ornon (Dalle de Chantelouve). The recent and huge parking lot allows to park a hundred cars and buses. Picnic tables are available (possibly provide a parasol...) and dry toilets. An information panel mentions, in photos, the main routes of the FFME topo concerning La Chalp and the "school" part of Chantelouve.
When to go?
The entire cliff is climbable in summer and between seasons. On the other hand, in winter, the slab of Chantelouve is extremely exposed to avalanches that regularly sweep this immense slope. Climbing is therefore not recommended for ALL winter. It is not uncommon for lava flows even to reach the road, and the cone of droppings, right at the foot of the main roads, can reach several tens of meters in height and persist even until the heart of summer. You will therefore need to adapt your approach.

To know
Even if the debonair approach in a few minutes suggests that we are in "banal" cliffs, here the environment is very mountainous with all the risks it entails... The face of the Grand Armet dominates you from almost 2000 meters, so as much height where drag blocks, unstable pebbles and a few horned critters... Wearing helmets is therefore mandatory on the main roads of Chantelouve, where you should also not venture if there is the slightest risk of a storm on the surrounding peaks.
