Challenging and varied route, featuring two beautiful mountain passes to discover.
It can be ridden in both directions and combined with the Lakes Loop.
The loop is mainly on small unfrequented mountain roads.
Route profile: 90 km, 2,179 m of elevation gain and 2,179 m of descent.
Leave your car at La Paute, at the junction with the road to Col d'Ornon.
From there, go to Séchilienne through national road, direction Grenoble. You get down the Bourg d'Oisans plain and the deep valley of Low Romanche. This is the only part of the route passing through a busy road, but you'll find a bicycle lanealmost all long the road. In Séchilienne, cycle up in the forest by the pretty La Morte road upto Alpe du Grand Serre. From there cycle down to La Valette, then a very small road to Oris-en-Ratier and Valbonnais, all among fields and through various villages. Then follow the valley to Entraigues and go up the Malsanne valley to Ornon Pass. The road down to La Paute is quite steep, it's a nice route well known for cycling. For the most motivated one, while getting down, it´s possible to go up to the small charming villages of Ornon, Villard Reymond or Oulles and come back, they worth it.
