La Chaud ascent

Description

When leaving La Mure, you can look forward to a nice gradual ascent with a panoramic view of the Matheysin plateau’s lakes and the Vercors, as you head towards the unfinished resort in La Chaud - St-Honoré 1500. Truly magnificent in the late afternoon at sunset !

Rather difficult. When leaving the La Mure town hall, go down Breuil street and turn left to head towards Valbonnais and proceed to Nantesen-Rattier / Alpe du Grand Serre / Col de Malissol. In Nantes-en-Rattier, at the roundabout, proceed towards Laffrey / Villard-Saint-Christophe / Saint-Honoré to the Fugières hamlet. From there, go right towards La Chaud - Saint-Honoré 1500 to start your actual climb, a steady and sustained climb that covers nearly 7 km. Conceived in the late 1980s and located at an altitude of 1500 metres, the La Chaud / Saint-Honoré 1500 real estate complex was an attempt to reinvigorate the Matheysin plateau’s economy - which was suffering from the declining mining industry - by taking advantage of a link with the Alpe du Grand Serre skiing area.
