Start from La Mure: take the D26 road towards Valbonnais, then take the D114 to Nantes-en-Rattier. At the roundabout, take the D115 towards Villard-Saint-Christophe and Cholonge. Stay on the D115 until Laffrey, where you cross the famous Napoleon route (at the traffic lights). Carry on to La Motte-d’Aveillans via Saint-Jean-de-Vaulx and Notre-Dame-de-Vaulx. Once in La Motte, visit the La Mine Image museum, then carry on along the D116 to La Motte-Saint-Martin, Marcieu and Mayres-Savel. This is the southern face of the Sénépi mountain’s. Carry on towards Saint-Arey, then Prunières to visit the mine’s old headframe. The La Mure ascent passes by the theatre and Notre-Dame de l’Assomption church before taking you back to your starting point.
